Tar and chip

Driveway tarring: gravel and bitumen emulsion carried out by SC Asphalte

For driveway tarring or access development, we have 3 techniques for applying the product, emulsion.

  1. Monolayer emulsion: this solution is preferred especially to keep the chosen grain in place
  2. Bilayer emulsion: this solution is recommended if the ground is too porous. We will prefer a bilayer with two different grain sizes for better durability over time. Advantages: a drivable driveway that looks like a gravel driveway with various color choices and is stabilized (no sinking in the gravel!)
  3. Trilayer: this technique is perfect for making an asphalt on a large area and at a lower cost (smooth, black finish, drivable by light or heavy vehicles).

The emulsion allows a stable finish quality with various color choices: ochre, red, multicolor (beige, white, gray)... Contact us to choose the solution that suits you!

Gravel coating: ideal for all your access developments

Do you plan to gravel a driveway or an outdoor courtyard? Tarring is carried out on a large number of surfaces such as a concrete slab, an old asphalt (allows to seal damaged slabs, cracks, intersections and old finishes... Laid hot, tarring is available in mono, bi or trilayer. It is a simple and cost-effective solution compared to asphalt, if you want to reduce your expenses.

Choose the color and size of the gravel, our team will then take care of your site as soon as possible.
Our company offers you all it's know-how and availability, in order to provide you with a real customized solution.

Tarring in single or multiple layers: the application

The emulsion is applied at 80 °C, in mono, bi or trilayer. The number of layers is decided according to your needs and your budget. The more layers there are, the more flexible and resistant your bitumen will be. Heavy vehicles and numerous passages will have less impact on it's condition.

For a drivable driveway, we recommend choosing a bilayer. For a pedestrian driveway, a monolayer will suffice. We recommend choosing a trilayer for a large area.

Preparing your land: the different steps

Our company, SC Asphalte, offers you a complete service including:

  • Earthworks and leveling of the land (delimitation and stripping)
  • Evacuation of rubble
  • Topographic survey for water evacuation management. This operation will determine the finished height of the asphalt and curbs and the proper evacuation of water to the rainwater drainage or to a lost well. This is done via gutters put in place beforehand.
  • Installation of pipes and GRD ducts, if necessary
  • Installation of the form layer with a geotextile and a GNT preparation stone (untreated gravel), leveled and compacted
  • Compaction
  • Soil preparation to accommodate the asphalt
  • Finishes
